Simple Ways that Contentsquare Builds a More Accessible Workplace

December 4, 2024

Contentsquare Accessible Workplace

Introduction

December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a global observance that champions the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all walks of life. For organizations, it’s a powerful reminder of the importance of creating inclusive and accessible workplaces.

Accessibility isn’t just about compliance, it’s about creating an environment where every employee can thrive.

The good news? Building a more accessible workplace doesn’t require sweeping changes. Small, actionable steps can have a meaningful impact. Here’s how Contentsquare is taking those steps to create a workplace that works for everyone.

It starts at hiring

We care about creating a place where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed, including candidates with disabilities. Here’s a few ways we do this:

  • Clear job postings: We use simple, easy-to-understand language in all our job postings, so they’re accessible to everyone.

  • Upfront accommodations: Candidates can let us know on their application about any special needs during the interview process.

  • Bias-free interviews: We train our hiring teams to focus on skills and qualifications, not assumptions or demographics. We also use structured interviews to ensure fairness and consistency and to reduce bias.

Supporting employees, every step of the way

At Contentsquare, inclusivity is embedded in our core values.

One example of this is our "user manuals". These are personal guides where employees can share their communication preferences, work styles, and any accommodations they might need. We encourage everyone to add their user manual to their Slack profile. It helps break down stigmas and encourages empathy for everyone, regardless of disability status.

Taking inclusivity a step further, Contentsquare ensures every employee can work comfortably and effectively– from flexible schedules and remote work options, to home office stipends for ergonomic or assistive equipment. We also use tools that make communication seamless for everyone, like Zoom with captioning and transcription.

But that’s not all. Contentsquare also developed a tool called Readapt that lets employees customize their digital experience in real time. Readapt makes it easy to adjust things like fonts and contrast, empowering everyone to create a digital world that works best for them. Try it for yourself here!

Shining a light on accessibility

We’re proud of the incredible contributions from the entire CSQuad, and we’d like to shine a special light on our Abilities Employee Resource Group (ERG). Our ERG works with our employees with disabilities and their allies to foster a supportive community, and create safe spaces for advocacy, collaboration, and connection.

To raise further awareness, we’re hosting Christophe Breheret-Girardin on December 4th for a presentation titled "How Your Presentations Make Me Physically Sick." Christophe will explore the impact of motion sickness caused by animations in presentations and websites, spotlighting a common but often overlooked accessibility challenge.

One of our own CSQuad members will also take the stage to share their personal experience—helping us better understand the day-to-day challenges and inspiring actionable change. The aim of these stories is to spark important conversations on how we can create a more inclusive and understanding workplace.

Inclusion is a journey, not a checkbox

Accessibility is more than a compliance checkbox—it’s a journey toward equity, innovation, and inclusion.

By taking small, meaningful steps, we aim to create a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, commit to making at least one change to build a more accessible workplace. Together, we can create environments that both employers and employees love, seek, and deserve.
