October marks a time to celebrate and reflect on the diverse cultures, histories, and experiences that shape our global society. At Contentsquare, we celebrate Global Diversity Month, Hispanic & Latiné Heritage Month in the U.S., and Black History Month in the U.K.

This year, as we honor communities across the world, we are reminded of the importance of approaching diversity with empathy and understanding. We live by our core value: Be Understanding. By embracing the unique stories of individuals from different backgrounds, we foster an inclusive environment where everyone’s heritage and experiences are respected and valued.

As part of the month’s festivities, the Multiculture ERG organized a special culinary event: a Dumpling Cooking Class led by our own Eric Mistry. In addition to the culinary experience, the Multiculture ERG donated the equivalent of all participants’ groceries to a world hunger organization!

Recap: Hispanic and Latiné Heritage Month 2024: Pioneers of Change

From September 15 to October 15, we celebrated Hispanic and Latiné Heritage Month with the theme “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” This period was dedicated to recognizing the remarkable contributions of Hispanic and Latiné individuals, from their profound influence on the arts to their leadership in movements for social justice. It was also an opportunity to highlight the resilience of these communities in the face of historical and ongoing challenges.

One of the key events was a virtual tour of Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, providing an intimate look at the life and creative legacy of one of the 20th century’s most influential artists. This event not only deepened our appreciation for Kahlo’s art but also offered insights into her cultural impact and enduring legacy.

In addition to cultural experiences, our internal panel discussion gave Hispanic and Latiné employees the opportunity to share their personal stories. These conversations emphasized the importance of creating environments where cultural identity is celebrated and diverse voices are heard.

Some key takeaways from our incredible panelists:

  • “For me, being authentic at work means not being afraid to be who I am and not feeling the need to hide parts of myself. It took time and growth to get here. There were spaces where I felt I had to assimilate and, at times, I did tone down parts of myself or my voice. But as I’ve gotten older, I realize being authentic is the only way to be. You have to be your whole self to truly succeed.” _–_Yanilda Gonzalez, Director of Global Talent Operations

  • “Being authentic is something every immigrant should wholeheartedly do at work. It’s easy to fit in with the norms, but it’s important to stay true to yourself. I keep my authenticity by being kind and warm to teammates and clients — that’s something we, as Latinés, are known for. When you show that kind of warmth, people tend to open up and share more with you.” -Pedro Siqueira, Senior Solutions Expert

  • “Since I was born in the United States, I have had the privilege of not needing to assimilate to the American culture as much, so I always embraced my heritage and never shied away from being loud or boisterous and encouraged my latino peers to be unapologetic about who they are as well. I also want to try and make every moment brighter, and at work, that means helping bring some fun to my team and driving efforts to hire more Latino talent.” -Steph Molano, Customer Success Manager

  • “It’s wonderful when people ask me about how I came to this country. I had two jobs and no set career, but now I feel proud of where I am. My traditions helped me get here. As an ambassador at CS, I feel proud to work for such a multicultural company that allows me to share who I am.” -Thais Guzman, Workplace Community Specialist

Global Diversity Month brings together these celebrations of Hispanic, Latiné, Black, and other global communities to remind us of the power of diversity. At Contentsquare, we believe understanding across different backgrounds is key to building an inclusive, equitable workforce. These celebrations during Global Diversity Month have given us an opportunity to reflect on the diverse experiences of our employees.

As we continue to celebrate Global Diversity Month, we encourage individuals and organizations to consider their roles in promoting diversity and inclusivity, and in uplifting the voices that shape our shared history and future.
